1769 George III Gold half guinea

11th April The guys head for home and the season ends.

A bit of a weird hunt this one, difficult I suppose to follow on from those spectacular gold find 2 weeks we had. We had days of lean finds and then a beauty like that Celtic enamelled piece turns up. Lots of early coppers with very few in nice condition. Budd thought he had taken Vancouver Brent's 67 coins in a week 'crown' with just over a 100 until I told him that his total was for two weeks !! however he did get another huge 1806 George III penny like the one Gary found in the same condition. So this brings the first seasons hunt to an end, Arkansas Gary is back for his fourth trip with Ed in September just as the plough goes off the fields !!! It should be fun watching the very first day to see who goes where to the known hotspots we uncovered this year !!
