11th April The guys head for home and the season ends. A bit of a weird hunt this one, difficult I suppose to follow on from those spectacular gold find 2 weeks we had. We had days of lean finds and then a beauty like that Celtic enamelled piece turns up. Lots of early coppers with very few in nice condition. Budd thought he had taken Vancouver Brent's 67 coins in a week 'crown' with just over a 100 until I told him that his total was for two weeks !! however he did get another huge 1806 George III penny like the one Gary found in the same condition. So this brings the first seasons hunt to an end, Arkansas Gary is back for his fourth trip with Ed in September just as the plough goes off the fields !!! It should be fun watching the very first day to see who goes where to the known hotspots we uncovered this year !! |

8th April 2003 Budd gets gold and Edd does it again Boston Budd managed to pull this one out in the middle of a 200 acre field, a rarer early shield half Guinea, I missed his gold dance !! Edd has also managed to find three really interesting artefacts that look really early but need to be looked at by an expert for a correct date. |

01 April 2003 It started to rain !!!!!!!! After three weeks of superb dry sunny weather it poured it down today. Gary & Ed have become 'soft' and ran for cover to do the tourist bit today leaving poor old Budd to fend the elements on his own. He did manage to bag this beautiful condition small Elizabeth silver hammered even with the rain, excellent find. |

31st March 2003 Boston 'the tornado' Budd arrives Budd joins the remaining crew of NJ Ed and Akansas Gary. All these guys are trying to see who can come back the most in one year, Budd & Ed haved booked their 3rd but Gary will return in Sept for his fourth 'fix' in Sept. We reckon he will be on the back of the tractor as it finshed rolling the fields !! This will probably be the last two week hunt of the season before I take a break from having 'barking mad Yanks' rampaging through the village and my home. More of Ed's and Gary's finds are posted on previous hunt page
