Using
this service
|
There appears to be no clue as to how the prices are worked out but it must go on the time he spends on each coin and the processes involved. Some of the coins are annealed several times to prevent cracking. To the guys hunting here the value of the coin is pretty unimportant but the finding and displaying of it that is paramount. This service is to enable the find to be better ID'd, make the coin presentable for your collection so spending £9 on a coin even if it is only worth £5 is irrelevant to the finder. This service is NOT to make the find more valuable but for eutectic reasons only. The Goldsmith takes the maximum care with your find but using this service is at your own risk. If he was doing it just for money then he would charge a great deal more for his time. If the find has a huge stress crack down it then I doubt that it is worth the risk. Annealing a coin can also change it's colour but the Dutch silver came out perfectly even with 2 annealing. To use this service the cost is from £9 per coin plus package and posting. Turnaround time will depnd on when the next batch is due to go in. I physically have to drop the coin off to his workshop and pick it up so it can be a bit longer depending on his work load. He can also do a rush job if we pay him more. He can also go to any degree of repair including repairing holes in gold coins etc. The level of repair will depend on what the finder requires and will obviously cost more. If you want to use this service then drop me a mail with a photo of the find if possible and I will let you know whne the next batch is due to go in. Basic straightening of coins is around £9 the max we have been charged so far is £20 |
